With the sun out and spring finally making an appearance, last night was the perfect evening to celebrate inspirational women in tech.
The Thames formed a spectacular backdrop for the 10 Digital Ladies Awards 2018, and with Equal Experts as one of the sponsors, I was there to present some of the awards.
10 Digital Ladies is a networking group, launched by digital product consultant Nina Lovelace in 2013, designed to give women in digital practitioner roles the support they need to reach their potential.
The evening was great fun! Not simply because it was really rewarding for me to see inspirational women given the credit they deserve, but also to meet so many different people, working in a huge variety of roles across a range of businesses big and small.
It was really exciting to learn more about the range of activities available within the digital and IT world, from people helping to produce content for YouTube channels, to creating accelerated AI hackathons for teenagers, along with more traditional disciplines such as user research, digital marketing and software delivery. I really believe that the more we can expose how varied the roles are in the industry, the more likely we are to attract a more diverse workforce.
Congratulations to all those who won, and also to those who were nominated – we’re really proud to have sponsored such a great event.
